Where to go
Kranidi (5 minutes)
Charming small town built on gentle hills overlooking olive groves. The town is known for its neoclassical buildings, quiet squares, narrow streets and welcoming cafés where locals gather. The AB Supermarket is open 7 days a week.
Porto Heli (15 minutes)
A sophisticated resort on a large bay with a beautiful promenade and a variety of restaurants, tavernas, bars, and boutiques. Motorboats can be rented from here (no license required) to explore the nearby bays. The ferry to Hydra, Spetses, Poros, and Athens docks along the promenade. There is also a diving school and a water skiing school in the bay near Ververonda.
Kilada (15 minutes)
This picturesque little fishing village is the opposite of Porto Heli; things are much quieter here, although it does have tavernas and cafés worth visiting. It also has a large bay with a private island at its entrance. The Franchthi Cave, dating back to prehistoric times, is well worth a visit. Basimakopoulos Shipyard is the largest boatyard in the Peleponnese
Ermioni (15 minutes)
This is arguably the most picturesque spot in the area, with many restaurants, cafes, and boutiques. The ferry to Athens, Hydra, Poros, and Spetses also stops here.
Built on a small peninsula, the town is surrounded by the sea on three sides, offering beautiful views and you can choose to be on either side depending on the position of the sun. At the end of the peninsula you will find a beautiful hiking trail. The local market (near the school) takes place here on Thursdays from 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM.
Nafplio (one hour)
Nafplio (one of the most beautiful cities in the Peleponnese) was the first capital of Greece, so there is much to enjoy here, The Palamidi Castle, which towers high above the city and can be reached by car, or you can climb the hill via some one thousand steps. The city has countless tavernas, boutiques, small hotels, and guesthouses nestled in flower-adorned alleyways. A lovely promenade offers views of the small fortress island of Bourtzi and a large square (Syntagma Square), where the Archaeological Museum (formerly the Parliament building) is located.
Epidavros (one hour)
An ancient archaeological site with the enormous Epidaurus Theatre, located in the middle of the forest, where performances of world famous artists are held still today. Epidavros and small Epidavros at the waterfront are definitely worth a visit.
Hydra (45 minutes)
You can reach Hydra through frequent ferry or water taxi rides, with options like Hellenic Seaways high-speed ferries (around 20-30 mins) or the local Christos ferry, and sometimes even smaller boats all from Ermioni. Famous for its car-free streets, Hydra offers a peaceful atmosphere where transport is by foot, donkey, or boat. The island is known for its elegant stone mansions, rich maritime history and artistic heritage.
You can enjoy scenic walking paths, waterfront tavernas and stunning sunsets.
Spetses (20 minutes)
You can reach Spetses via Kosta by water taxi – these small boats run back and forth all day at €30 per trip, regardless of the number of passengers. Or you can take a regular ferry from Kosta as well for € 3.50 per trip and person. On Spetses, only permanent residents are allowed to use a car everyone else uses scooters, quads, and bicycles, which are available for rent everywhere. Rent a bike and take the Spetses Island Coastal Views loop of about 25 km.
Poros (one hour)
Another charming island worth visiting at a one hour car drive plus 5 minutes on a watertaxi. Enjoy strolling around, visit the numerous tavernas, coffee places and fish restaurants and watch the yachts mooring and unmooring at the promenade.
Mycenae (1.5 hours)
Greece's second most famous large archaeological site of an ancient city. It lies on a hill amidst a barren mountain landscape. It is a fairly large excavation site with the legendary Lion Gate at the beginning of the tour. Mycenae is about 30 minutes from Nafplio.
